Were you qualified to receive a stimulus payment this month but didn’t receive one? You’re not alone. Many individuals who were supposed to receive their 2nd round stimulus check were disappointed when they received no payment at all.
The easiest way to check on the status of your payment is to visit HERE. This is the IRS website “Get My Payment Tool” and here you can check on the status of your payment. Unfortunately, some of you will see “Payment #2 Status not Available”. So, what does that mean?
According to the IRS, it means you won’t be receiving a stimulus payment automatically even if you qualify for one. Wait.. What? The IRS says, any person receiving the “Payment #2 Status not Available” message on the Get My Payment tool will have to wait until they file their 2020 taxes to get the payment, even if they received the first stimulus check with no issues.
Your next question should be…why? I, like many others, qualify for the payment, filed my taxes last year and received the first round payment. I am also 100% sure that the IRS has all the information they need to send me a payment So, why aren’t we getting a payment? Who knows?
According to the CNBC, a spokesperson for the agency (IRS) did not clarify why this is happening.
So, bottom line is, if you did not get your 2nd round stimulus payment and you have the aforementioned status message, you will have to wait to request your payment on your 2020 tax return. And… then wait for the IRS to process that return, which they say will be done “as quickly as possible”. Somehow, “IRS” and “quickly” don’t seem to fit together well.
